Arizona finally gives Obama a green light on his US citizenship

Arizona is finally on the right side of an issue; they accept President Obama as an US citizen many years after everyone else knew this was the fact.

Arizona Secretary of State Ken Bennett finalized the papers work proving Obama’s birth certificate is valid. This came a few months after Arizona’s Sheriff Arpaio uses taxpayers’ money to send birther investigators to Hawaii in order to prove Barack Obama isn’t an US citizen.

Ken Bennett was threatening the Obama Administration if they couldn’t resolve the birth certificate issue, Obama would be left off of the Presidential ballot in this year’s elections. With the investigation closed, Obama is now on the ballot this November. Ken Bennett released this statement to explain his conclusion:

“Late yesterday, our office received the ‘verification in-lieu of certified copy’ from officials within the Hawaii Department of Health that we requested in March,” Bennett wrote. “They have officially confirmed that the information in the copy of the Certificate of Live Birth for the President matches the original record in their files.”

Insiders are blaming the Romney campaign for pressuring Bennett to resolve this issue considering he is co-chairman for the Arizona Romney campaign. This issue could undermine the seriousness of the Romney campaign. In the Republican primary, Mitt Romney calling the Arizona immigration law a model for the nation has hurt his numbers in national polls; the birther issue would’ve put more fuel on the fire the Romney campaign didn’t need.

Ken Bennett gave the reasoning in his statement as to why he was forced to investigate Obama’s birth certificate:

“As Arizona’s chief elections officer, I have the responsibility to certify the ballot to the state’s 15 counties,” Bennett wrote in Wednesday’s statement. “At the request of numerous constituents, I merely asked Hawaiian officials to verify the information contained within President Obama’s original birth certificate. They have complied with the request and I consider the matter closed.”

Arizona Secretary of State Ken Bennett statements haven’t closed the case in Arizona; Arizona’s Sheriff Arpaio Posse is in Hawaii looking for a smoking gun. Arpaio is abusing taxpayer’s money to find something that isn’t there. Aripaio has a personal vendetta against the Obama administration for suing him over Civil Rights issues trying to enforce the Arizona Immigration law. With Sheriff Arpaio wild goose chase, the Romney campaign could be stuck with the birther issue which could hurt him this November.
